Chhath Puja means long hours at the ghat, standing in water and offering arghya at sunrise and sunset. Your saree needs to look traditional and still be easy to manage.
Cotton and cotton-silk sarees are the most comfortable choice. They are light, dry quickly and stay in place. Yellow, orange, red and pink are the colours most families choose for Chhath, and a simple zari or printed border keeps the look festive.
Avoid very heavy work and slippery fabrics like satin, which get difficult near the water. If you want something special for the evening arghya, a light Banarasi or tissue saree works well.
